When considering carpet is the right choice

Carpet is a most beloved floor covering for many homeowners, and some refuse any other material for their floors. They have learned the benefits this floor covering offers and choose to stick with it. Among those benefits are a warmth that is held for longer periods of time, a soft underfoot feel, and a homey feeling you simply can’t get from many of the hard surface floor coverings on the market today. If you look into this flooring a bit more, you might even find it’s what you’ve been looking for all along.

Carpet & Tile By The Mile knows a thing or two about carpet flooring. And we’d love to pass that knowledge along to all our customers. If you will take the time to stop by our showroom, located in Milford, CT, one of our experienced flooring professionals will be happy to assist you with all your needs. Serving the areas of Milford, Stratford, Orange, West Haven and surrounding areas, we’d love to serve you as well.

Carpet benefits you can’t miss

One of the most beloved aspects of this floor covering is the fact that it is absolutely the softest underfoot. That kind of comfort is perfect for any day, but especially on those chilly mornings, when stepping out onto a cold, hard floor makes you just want to stay in bed. It’s also a pleasure to walk on, for that same luxurious soft feel.

If you’ve ever wondered what gives this material that wonderful feeling, we have the answer: It’s the fiber. Fiber is the factor in many of your carpet’s characteristics including softness, durability, life span and much more. Here is a look at some of the most common fibers, and their main characteristics:

  • Wool - a natural fiber that tends to be pricier than others are, but is warm, luxurious and durable when properly cared for.
  • Nylon - the most common fiber, with high resilience, abrasion resistance, softness and strength.
  • Polyester - durable, soft, colorfast, affordable and has nice color clarity, some are even made with recycled plastic.
  • Olefin/Polypropylene - incredibly resistant to fading, stains and static, somewhat crush resistant, this fiber offers good performance.
  • Triexta - this newer fiber provides superior performance, stain resistance and softness.
